The central government has recently announced the 5G Intelligent Villages Initiative and the Quantum Encryption Algorithm, which aim to bridge the digital divide in rural India and foster technologically inclusive villages. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has called for proposals from industry, startups, MSMEs, Academia, and government funded agencies which are working towards technology design, development and commercialization of telecommunications products and solutions. The 5G Intelligent Initiative aims to harness the power of 5G technology for rural technological upliftment, by addressing critical pillars such as governance: livelihood, education, and agricultural innovations. To showcase the advantages of 5G technology, the proposals invited will enable effective utilization of Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) and Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) aspects of 5G in select villages. The DoT is investing in collaborative efforts in realizing the potential of 5G and Quantum Encryption to build a digitally resilient society.
