Irregular implementation of the Forest Rights Act due to lethargy and ambiguity has rendered some tribal communities in Maharashtra strangers in their own homes. They are often harassed by Forest Officials and restricted access to the resources of the forest they help nurture all in the name of a law enacted in 1980. Frustrated by this injustice, a conclave of tribals and farmers organized an arduous march to protest in favour of the effective implementation of the FRA to protect their rights.
