What is RTE ACT ? -Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009

On April 1, 2010, India passed a historic law known as the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The Act’s main goal is to give all Indian children between the ages of 6 and 14 free and mandatory schooling. It stipulates that all children must have equal access to high-quality education free from discrimination. Free and compulsory education, quality of education, no detention policy, meeting infrastructure requirements, guaranteed admission to the local school, prohibition of discrimination on the basis of caste, gender, religion, or disability, provision of qualified and trained teachers, monitoring and accountability, and protection of children’s rights are the main tenets of the Right to Education Act.
