This Waste Management Technology Could be Economical Boon For Rural India

In a research spearheaded by researchers from the University of Glasgow went onto suggest that the three products of pyrolysis- bio-oil, syngas, and biochar fertilizer could help Indians live cleaner and greener lives. They conducted their first data collection in 1200 homes across Odisha to understand their ways of cooking, powering their homes, and farming. The findings indicated that people were keen to shift from cooking with smoke-inducing coal, wanted power grids, and were willing to sell their agricultural waste to aid bioenergy. These findings helped the researchers design BioTRIG, a community-level pyrolysis system that can run on waste generated by villagers.
