Public Health System: Towards a Healthier Maharashtra

The government of Maharashtra’s public health department has been working to make healthcare accessible and affordable for citizens through several schemes such as National Rural Health Mission, Ayushmaan Bharat Health Mission, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojna and Maharashtra State Aids Control society. They also have projects on The PCPNDT Act and violence against women. They run several other programs such as the National Tobacco Control Program, Blood on call, Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services, Water testing programs and other quality assurance programs to ensure the health of their citizens. The e-OPD and e- sanjeevni benefits given by the department help a patient book an appointment and avail medical services without any hassle. The State mental health authority has also been a pioneering effort in giving as much importance to mental well being as is to physical well-being.
