Official notification regarding Forest Rights Act, 2006

The Government of India had published a draft of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Rules, 2007 on June 19, 2007. This was done to invite feedback from the public, as required under the Forest Rights Act, 2006.

The draft was made available to the public on June 25, 2007, and people were given 30 days to share their suggestions or objections.

After carefully reviewing all public responses, the Central Government finalized the rules.

Now, using the powers given under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, the government officially notifies these rules. These rules are meant to recognize and grant forest rights and land use to forest-dwelling Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers who have been living in such areas.
