Local Diet Diversity effects on Lactating Mothers & Children : PALGHAR

Despite significant improvements in health and rapid economic growth, dietary deprivation is still widespread in India. In many regions of India, nutritional improvements have stagnated despite the POSHAN Abhiyaan’s increased policy initiatives. With an emphasis on dietary diversity, this study evaluated the eating habits of nursing women in Maharashtra’s Palghar area. The five key conclusions from the current analysis are as follows: First, the majority of nursing mothers in Palghar consume a diet that is significantly richer in grains, white roots, tubers, and pulses and far lower in dairy, eggs, and non-vegetarian foods. The study concludes that poor consumption of dairy products or different fruits and vegetables is the main cause of inadequate nutritional diversity, which is a serious problem among breastfeeding women. Increased nutritional diversity is also required to improve the nutrition of mothers and children, as is diet-centric counselling and educating nursing mothers about its advantages.
