The Machhrauli village, situated in Harayana’s Nuh District has been plagued by the perils of water scarcity and contamination, which has further led to several villagers suffering from waterborne health ailments. In April 2023, TLG India Private Limited launched the Gram Udyay VII Project which was implemented by the S.M. Sehgal Foundation. The project conducted weekly Village Leadership Sessions (VLS) that informed the village leaders about the various government schemes in place and equipped them with ways to effectively engage with government departments to effectively access all the facilities meant for them. The VLS members brought this issue to the notice of the Gram Udyay Project field assistant, who informed them about the provisions of the government’s Jal Jeevan Mission that is implemented by the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) and shared the Jal Jeevan Mission’s helpline number. 10 days later a PHED member visited the village and was shown the damage around and work to undertake the repairs commenced the very next day. With the collective efforts of the VLS Members and the Gram Udyay project officer, the village’s water crisis was solved.
