Eklavya Model Residential Schools budget raised to 7,088 crores

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) is a scheme to provide quality education to students from Scheduled Tribes (STs). The scheme was introduced in 1997-98 by Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The purpose of this scheme is to help students in vulnerable areas and communities to get access to educational opportunities and resources. The 2025-26 budget allocated Rs. 7.6 Crores for the scheme, higher than last budget amout of Rs. 4.7 crores.Residential schools known as EMRS offer free instruction along with housing, food, textbooks, and uniforms. They concentrate on students from Scheduled Tribes and emphasise both academic and extracurricular development in a holistic manner. Read the overview of the scheme budget below:
