487 crores pending for daily wage workers in 11 states under MGNREGA

Through initiatives like the National Electronic Fund Management System’s implementation, extensive stakeholder and state government consultation to guarantee timely wage payments, verification of outstanding compensation claims, etc., the Ministry has made a concentrated effort to decrease wage payment delays. Other measures like Aadhaar Based Payment System (ABPS) has been mandated since January 1, 2024, to ensure quicker, safer, and timely wage disbursement to beneficiaries under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS; and the National Mobile Monitoring System (NMMS) records real-time attendance in real time. However, there are outstanding liabilities for the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS wage component. As of November 25, 2024 of Rs. 487.84 Crores of wages are pending in following states:
